Web Design FAQ

1. How long does it normally take to build and host a web site?

It normally takes less than 14 days to build a web site. Hosting requires a domain name, that can be purchased for as little as US $ 13.00per year. Website design together with hosting takes less than two weeks, and for web sites where lot of interactivity is to be built in, it may take about 3 weeks.

2. If I already have a site can you help me improve it?

Yes. We can redesign or add content to an existing site, and costs less money than building one from scratch.

3. Can you use my company's existing logo, brochure design, and other materials for my website?

Yes, we can certainly use your existing company literature such as logos', brochure, etc. for incorporating in the new web site.

4. Is there any maintenance required after designing and hosting a web site?

Depending on the business, some amount of maintenance would be required. As your business evolves, it may require some things to be added, deleted, or modified. If there is no much change in the business from time to time, the maintenance will also be minimal.

5.What is the difference between a “static” and a “dynamic” site?
A static site is one that is written in HTML only. Each page is a separate document and there is no database that it draws on. What this means functionally is that the only way to edit the site is to go into each page and edit the HTML - so you'd either have to do it yourself using a webpage editor like FrontPage or pay me to go in and edit the site each time you wanted something changed.

A dynamic site is written using more complex code and can do a lot more. For instance, I can make an area where you can log in and change various parts of the site, such as adding information or products. This is because each page is constructed based on the information in a database, and the information in that database can be changed via another interface.

Dynamic sites can reduce ongoing maintenance costs if you don't want to change things yourself with a webpage editor or with the HTML. They usually cost more to develop, as they require more complex coding and a content management utility needs to be developed to help you manage your website information.

Another benefit of dynamic sites is that they allow you to change only the content of the site and not the design, so you will not be able to accidentally break the visual style of the site. They have other benefits when sites start to get very large, as they make data management much more efficient and your site more expandable.

Many clients do a combination, having some dynamic areas such as a product catalog where they have to change information or pictures regularly, and leave other pages such as contact information as static pages.

6.How do I get my website listed on search engines, especially Google?
Modern search engines like to find your site naturally, through links to your site from other sites. Google especially relies on your incoming links to determine your popularity and relevance. For more information on submitting your site and how to promote your site through search engines, read my guide to Promoting Your Website.

Domain Name and Hosting FAQ

1. What is a Domain Name?

A domain name is a word along with a TLD that uniquely identifies your website.

Please visit our domains page for more information.

2.What domain name should I choose?
This depends on how you are going to use it. If you are going to be telling people over the phone, choose one that is easy to say and spell out loud. Above all, I would choose one that is memorable and not confusing. Read this Guide Choosing a Good Domain

3.How Do I Register a Domain Name?

Registering a domain name is very easy.

First you will have to make sure that the domain you want is available - using something called a WHOIS lookup at sites like whois.net or Whois Source you can make sure the domain you want is available for registration.

Afterwards, you simply fill up the domain registration form here and send it to us.We will do the Registration.

4.How long does it take to process the registration?
Once your domain application has been submitted, it must be reviewed by our staff to ensure accuracy and completeness, and to verify payment. Domain applications are then submitted to the Registrar for registration, and will be added to the root name servers within 5hours.

5.Is webhosting included with the domain registration?
The domain registration fee covers the cost of domain registration only. Webhosting is NOT included.

6. What is Web Hosting?

Web hosting is the act of renting space and bandwidth through a company so that you may publish your web site online.

You can check our web hosting packages and rates here Hosting Packages

7.What exactly is space and bandwidth/data transfer?

Diskspace is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space.

Bandwidth/Transfer is the amount of data the server will allow your site to send in a month. Transfer is usually measured in gigabytes - billions of bytes. Once you go over your monthly limit, a host may either shut your site down for the remainder of the month or it can charge you 'overage.' Check the charges here Bandwidth Charge

8.How much does a domain-name registration name cost?

Each registrar sets the price it charges for registering names, and prices vary significantly among different registrars. In addition, some registrars offer discounted or free registration services in connection with other offerings, such as web hosting. To see what offering best meets your needs, you should visit our page DOMAIN AND HOSTING COST on this site.

9.Can you transfer my existing domain name and/or content?

Yes, both, unless you are under contract with another company that prevents this.

10.What is Domain Forwarding?

Domain forwarding allows you to redirect traffic from your domain name to another URL. With domain forwarding you can have a FREE website from a free hosting ISP, or personal web space at your local Internet Service Provider (ISP), and access it from your new domain - with no monthly hosting fees!
